1. Casting

The floor, and walls of the concrete pods, are cast from a special lightweight concrete mixture, which is reinforced with steel mesh and rebar in accordance with the pod drawings and building codes.

The walls of the lightweight steel pods are made from cold rolled steel profiles and moisture resistant fiberboard walls (steel/ gypsum board pod).

Plumbing pipe work and wastes along with the electrical services are cast in the floor and wall elements and inserts for lifting rods are cast into the floor and concrete walls for delivery and placement of the pod.

2. Floor Tiling

The floor tiling is carried out on tiling frames at the optimum height in the main production hall to ensure a constant supply of quality tiled and grouted floors which are protected prior to being moved to the next process of pod assembly. The area is temperature controlled to create optimal working conditions and UNIPODS uses only quality adhesives, approved for the UAE climate.

3. Cabin Assembly

The wall elements are mechanically bolted to the pre-tiled floors and from wall to wall which creates a ridged box. The pre manufactured ceilings have the option to be made from cold rolled steel profiles with moisture resistance fiberboard, box frame with moisture resistance fiberboard, or made out of pre-cast concrete (this for concrete walled pods only).

4. Tanking the Pod

The pod is tanked with rubber membrane in all the wet areas and used to seal all the joints to create a watertight box. Overflow pipes are cast-in all floors to minimize damage in case of a leak or water overflow.

5. 1st Phase Plumbing

The 1st phase plumbing is carried out prior to any fittings or features being installed, this ensures all pipe work/ wastes, fittings etc receive exact cutouts during the tiling process.

6. Wall Tilling

The pods are tiled by a fully skilled and trained workforce; this too is carried out in a temperature controlled area to optimize adhesive performance. All tiling layouts are carried out in accordance to the client’s specifications. Any tiles requiring cutouts are cut off-line and brought to workstation to increase tillers productivity and precision.

7. Plumbing, Fixtures & Fittings

Pre-assembled plumbing elements are line fed to the pods and fitted to the pre-plumbed locations ensuring a clean and easy process. The Pods are then fitted with mirrors, lights, shower screen etc. as per specification agreement.

8. Live Testing

Live electricity and water tests are carried out by fully qualified personnel and a test certificate is assigned to each pod and sent to main contractor.

9. Completion

The pods are cleaned prior to the final inspection being carried out by Quality Control, after sign-off an OSB (or similar) board is fitted over the pod entrance and locked for protection. The Pods are then wrapped for protection during transportation.

10. Delivery

The pods are delivered on our own flatbed lorry to facilitate crane handling and installation. Each lorry can carry between 4-6 pods depending on the size of the pod.

Each bathroom pod is produced in the
Ras Al Khaimah factory, where each workstation is designed to optimise quality,efficiency and workmanship.

All tools, anchors and adhesives are sourced from top quality suppliers and applied under the right conditions to optimise performance.
